Thank you!Įdit: I just tried a second AC adapter and it does the same thing. I was able to update the BIOS today while the AC adapter was plugged in and sporadically working. There must be some common cause that is affecting so may people but not others. Latest Dell ATI drivers (not from AMD's site). That makes me think that it is less a hardware issue and more a software issue, but I am not sure. Fascinating, Both my R3 laptops brightness and all other function keys work. The weird thing is the Alienware FX for the power light always knows that I have the adapter plugged in because whether Windows recognizes the adapter or not the light that I have set for the power button immediately changes when I unplug and reconnect the AC adapter. So I tried unplugging and reconnecting the AC adapter and the computer recognized it for a second and then went back to the battery brightness level and the windows batter icon showed it was running on battery. Today when I turned it on, the system said the AC adapter was not plugged in yet I have not moved the computer in days and last night it was plugged in and working just fine.
